What are dental implants?
The Implant
Screw-like prosthetic device that is surgically placed in the jaw bone. It acts as an artificial root that supports a dental prosthesis.
Abutment
Connector that helps support and/or retain a prosthesis.
Implant prosthesis
Artificial tooth or teeth placed on dental implants. Examples of prostheses include crowns, other fixed dental prostheses, and removable prostheses.
Prosthetic Options
Full-arch restorations
These prostheses are used to replace all of your upper and/or lower teeth. Artificial teeth are attached to implants, improving your function, appearance, and comfort. In addition, implants help with preservation of your jawbone.
Complex implant-supported fixed dental prostheses
Based on your unique situation, implant-supported bridges may be the preferred option if you have several broken or missing teeth. Dental implants are placed in strategic locations to support the planned restorations.

Dr. Lucie Z. X. Yin
DMD, MS, FRCDC, Cert. Pros
Dr. Yin is a Board Certified Specialist in Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Yin received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from McGill University, where she graduated with Distinction in recognition of high academic excellence. She subsequently obtained her Prosthodontics Certificate and Master of Science in Oral Biology degree at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League institution, upon completion of her 3-year postdoctoral Advanced Specialty Education Program in Prosthodontics.
